As a fan of train simulators, I've had the pleasure of exploring different aspects of this hobby through these incredible games. One of the standout features of the Trainz series is its emphasis on inclusion and customization. With each new game, users can install third-party content, including rolling stock, scenery, routes, and more, allowing for unparalleled flexibility and creativity. This level of control has made the Trainz community a vibrant and active one, with enthusiasts constantly creating and sharing new content. The games themselves are divided into two main modules: Surveyor and Driver. Surveyor is a route and session editor that lets players design and manage their own rail routes, while Driver allows users to operate and watch trains run in either DCC (Digital Command Control) or CAB (real-world physics) mode. The DCC mode provides a simplified stop-and-go experience, ideal for beginners, while the CAB mode adds working cab controls and real-world physics for a more immersive experience. The first Trainz game was released in 2001 by Australian studio Auran, which later became N3V Games in 2007. Since then, the series has grown to include numerous titles, each building upon the last with new features and improvements. My collection includes various editions of the game, each showcasing its unique charm and capabilities. From the classic Norfolk and Western Y6b featured on the box art of Trainz Simulator 12 to other iconic locomotives and routes, my Thomas Trainz games have provided countless hours of entertainment and educational value. For anyone interested in railroad simulation or simply looking for a new type of gaming experience, I highly recommend exploring the world of Trainz. With its emphasis on inclusion, customization, and realism, this series has something to offer every fan of trains and simulation games alike.
